Bring material and classroom content to life with Glogster!
High school chemistry is a course many students struggle with due to the abstract nature of the material. Students are taught a series of math equations and principles about material sometimes so small they have yet to be seen by man. However, while atoms and molecules have not been seen visually by anyone, they influence everything -- living & nonliving. To help students make lasting connections to this integral course content, I will use visuals and real world examples to deepen a student's understanding of chemistry.
Glogster is an excellent tool that can be incorporated into a chemistry classroom. Essentially, Glogster is an online space to create a dynamic, virtual poster to display information. It is an interactive site where teachers can utilize their creativity by adding imagery, videos, drawings, explanations, and links to websites to help students focus on content.
Teachers can create posters through Glogster to use every day in the classroom. Because Glogster is virtual, students can access posters you make outside of the classroom. To engage students and have them show off their creativity, consider having students create their own posters on Glogster to demonstrate what they've learned. To start using Glogster, choose a topic you would like to teach. Learning objectives for using Glogster: 1.) Choose a background 2.) Add pictures that enhance content 3.) Draw specific examples using the editing panel on the top left hand side 4.) Choose video, or links to other sites that could enhance student learning 5.) Add text where necessary. 6.)Use the menu on the top left hand side of the screen to edit different visual effects |

Classroom Webpage
Add your Glogsters you made for class to the classroom webpage for easy accessibility by students. Students can use the glogs to explore and inquire about different phenomena within science to help drive their learning. Use scaffolded questions and assignments to help students maneuver a glog to fully understand the material. |
